THE CHAMPAGNE DIET
– by Candy Champagne
Have you seen or heard of the champagne diet?
Gluten free, dairy free, fat free…I LOVE this champagne diet!
BUT, WHAT ABOUT SUGAR FREE?
“Brut” is an indicator of a dry champagne with lower sugar dosage. A demi-sec on the other hand, has much more sugar content and is a much sweeter champagne (I am not a demi-sec fan but that is a personal preference).
The other morning, I was excited to start my day with an Extra Brut called “Tarlant Zero” from Tarlant, a boutique champagne house in Epernay, France.
Without added sugar, Tarlant Zero (Zero stands for zero sugar dosage) is a refreshing and VERY DRY champagne. Characterized by the Wine Enthusiast as “certainly dry, it also has a rich, toasty character, with crisp acidity. It revels in ripe fruit flavours and balances with toasty age”.
It took some getting used to, but I could really enjoy get used to this champagne diet!
